Surgical Orthodontics

In some special cases, surgical orthodontics (also called corrective jaw surgery) may be required to correct problems such as jaw bone abnormalities, bad bites and malocclusion.

Dr. Scarborough, a former member of the Medical College of Virginia, Department of Orthodontics Craniofacial/Facial Reconstruction Team, has extensive experience coordinating interdisciplinary and complex cases that combine orthognathic jaw surgery with orthodontic treatment.

A portion of your initial consultation will be spent determining if surgical orthodontics is necessary for your individual case. If it is decided that surgery is necessary, we’ll work with you to ensure that you receive the best care possible and that your result restores both function and aesthetics to your smile.
